The Best Engineered Car In The World:012 BMW 335i Sedan..Checking the numbers: We strap our gear to the latest 335i

If you’re like us, you’ve bored holes through pictures of the new 3-series sedan trying to discern the styling changes versus the outgoing model. Yes, there are some. A new face features headlights that puddle in toward the chrome-wrapped kidneys and a broad, blunt-faced front bumper that creates a sort of grimacing overbite into the lower grille. Move around to the sides and tail, and it all looks very familiar, even though the new car is 1.9 inches longer in wheelbase and 3.7 inches longer overall, which gives it more of a sleek, sprinter-on-blocks profile. But what’s really new about the F30, you ask? Well, after 600 miles in a brand-new 2012 F30-generation 335i Sport Line—and a couple of plates of South Carolina barbecue—we have a pretty good idea.

The turbocharged N55 3.0-liter inline-six carries over its silkworm-woven symmetrical outputs of 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed manual still operates in concert with a tautly sprung clutch pedal and a spindly shifter that moves with greased precision, and the suspension and steering still make us smile. The differences are in the details: The dash controls and vents stay in roughly the same locations, but a welcome redesign of the panel—with its more pronounced instrument hood, driver-oriented center console, and traditional pull-type parking brake—concentrates the focus on the pilot. The Sport Line (the flashiest of three available trim packages) offers a decorous marriage ofleather, metal, red stitching, and low-gloss plastic.

The wheelbase punch-out creates a few more cubic feet here and there, most noticeably in the back seat with its extra head and knee room, plus some subtle tactile difference in the steering, no doubt due to the switch to electric assist (more on that in a second). The 2012 335i’s base price rises merely $370 from the 2011 model’s, and the weight gain from our last E90 335i test car is 77 pounds, at least some of which must be from the new optional 19-inch wheels ($900) and run-flat tires.

As Porsche did with its overhauled 911, BMW played it safe, not so much redesigning its icon but giving it a scrub and polish.

The company has laid to rest the bad memories of its original iDrive and brought forth an easily navigated multimedia system, though the 3’s new freestanding center display doesn’t retract, and it matches the surrounding landscape about as well as the screen in a desert drive-in theater.

The 335i loves being hurried down country two-lanes with a radar detector on guard, showing the same easy comfort with a quick pace as the previous model did. If the definition of good steering is that which allows the driver to place the car exactly where desired, the 335i’s still got it. Its clarity is undimmed by the switch to electric assist and a new, optional variable-ratio steering gear, even if its feedback is more opaque. Surface textures and impacts are indeed tuned out by this rack-and-pinion setup (though not by the body’s sound insulation, which lets a surprising amount of tire noise through), but the sense of control doesn’t really diminish.

The on-center window of slackness is just wide enough to hold the car on a straight path but not too wide or too dead—as we’ve noticed in the 5- and 7-series—to allow wandering. Meanwhile, the effort rises gratifyingly as you turn in. Unless you’re the type that likes wheel shudders through every apex, the new 3 leaves little to complain about.

The wheel does feel a little overassisted with the Driving Dynamics Control (DDC) console switch—which this year finds its way from BMW’s bigger cars into the 3-series as standard equipment—set on Comfort. But bump it up to Sport or Sport +, and a natural heft returns. There’s also an Eco Pro setting that waters down the throttle response to something closer to that of a Toyota Corolla.

We can’t say definitively that you need the optional Adaptive M suspension ($900), which adds electronically variable-damping shocks to the functions controlled by the DDC. For decades, the 3-series has gotten by fine without wires to its suspension. But we never found a setting, which varies depending on what DDC mode you’re in, that reduced either the ride quality or body control below that of excellent. Even in the Sport and Sport + modes, which perk up the throttle—and in the latter also cuts traction-control intervention—the suspension still weeds out the worst chop. The suspension option does give the 3’s character some flexibility. If you like your 3 to always be in hunt-kill mode, an optional M Sport package, coming later, will drop the ride height by 0.4 inch on firmer, non-electronic shocks, stiffer springs, and thicker anti-roll bars.

As for the numbers, the 335i proved marginally slower than expected in testing. It needed 5.3 seconds to reach 60 mph instead of something in the high fours, as we’ve recorded with previous 335s. Sometimes that’s the driver’s fault, but forensic analysis revealed that the launches came off okay. However, the car then slowed appreciably even though the shifts were clean. We even tried power-shifting (keeping the gas pedal floored during the gearchanges) a couple of times, but the numbers wouldn’t budge.

A slower 5-to-60 time of 5.9 seconds—we expected mid-fives for that—also indicated that something may have been amiss. Bad gas, perhaps, or not enough break-in miles on the odometer (1365 at test time). Possibly, the new 19-inch rims and correspondingly heavier tires may have helped act as anchors. The 3’s other anchors, the brakes, did their duty to perfection, pulling several stops between 164 and 170 feet and never failing to offer a firm pedal in any situation.

The upshot is that the 3-series marches on with improvements that mostly require engineering drawings to ascertain. This is either good news if you passionately adored the previous model or bad tidings if you were hoping for more newness. At some point, BMW will have to take a bigger step to move forward or risk falling behind its competitors—but not just yet.

Ford Racing has an extensive performance parts catalog for the Mustang—so to remind everyone that its extensive support for Ford’s pony car will continue with the refreshed 2013 model, it has created a project car built up with parts from the catalog. Ford Racing began with a 2013 Mustang GT painted Gotta Have it Green, and threw the kitchen sink at it. The result is one very cool rolling showcase for Ford Racing’s available upgrades.
Engine and Driveline
The 2013 Mustang GT is a pretty powerful stallion in stock form—its 5.0-liter V-8 gained eight hp this year for a new total of 420—but Ford Racing went ahead and added even more power, anyway. In went a Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger kit that includes a 2.3-liter supercharger, larger injectors, and a prototype ECU reflash. (The 2013-specific kit hasn’t yet been finalized, but it will share its catalog part number with the supercharger kit for the 2011-2012 Mustang GT.) Ford Racing says the supercharger goods are good for an additional 204 hp, bringing the grand total to 624. Look out, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500! An 8.8-inch rear axle routes the additional power to the wheels, and a Mustang GT side-exit exhaust system and sport mufflers amp up the exhaust noise.
Chassis and Suspension
Ford Racing also beefed up the Mustang GT’s suspension with adjustable dampers front and rear, a set of lowering springs that reduce ground clearance by one inch, and tubular rear lower control arms. The stock front brakes were swapped for Brembo units with 14-inch rotors and four-piston calipers, and Ford Racing fitted a Mustang Laguna Seca brake duct kit to cool the bigger binders. The project Mustang rides on black 19-inch Track Pack wheels, and a Boss 302 Laguna Seca–derived adjustable front splitter juts out from below the front bumper.
The best part, as we already mentioned, is that everything on the car is or will be available from the Ford Racing catalog. Regardless of your feelings on modding cars, we must say that this project Mustang GT makes a pretty compelling case for the trade.

38000 Words In The English Language..Not ONE Describes The Feeling..Porsche 918 2014

In its present form, Porsche’s upcoming hybrid supercar, the 918 Spyder, looks more like something out of Doc Brown’s imagination than the flashy concept that stunned the crowds at the 2010 Geneva auto show. Its body, such as it is, consists of a collection of ill-fitting chopped-up 911 pieces bolted to a carbon-fiber tub bristling with snorkels, fat bundles of wires, and what appears to be a Zero Halliburton aluminum suitcase.

We’re at the Nardo high-speed test track in southern Italy to get a taste of this rolling science project. As we enter the mule through a flat-black 911 door, we see the ignition key to the left of the steering wheel, just as in nearly every other Porsche. This is about the only thing familiar about the 918 Spyder. When the key is turned, the car remains quiet. There’s no snorting or crackling coming from the exhaust, as you might expect from a super sports car. There is only a gentle buzz from behind the seats. The hybrid-powered 918 Spyder starts moving under electric propulsion.

A 107-hp electric motor drives the 918 Spyder’s front wheels, up to 16 mph. This makes the 918 Spyder the first front-drive sports car in Porsche history. Sort of. Say you want to go a little faster in this nearly million-dollar targa. That’s when a second electric motor, mounted behind the driver, kicks in. This 121-hp machine is part of the main propulsion system that includes a 570-hp, 4.6-liter V-8. As with other Porsche hybrids, this centrally located power unit works as a parallel hybrid driving the rear wheels.

Hard to see here, but you are looking almost directly down the top-mounted exhaust pipes. Hope you didn’t actually want to see the engine.
The rear electric motor kicks in without interruption as the front motor gets decoupled and goes asleep. The rear electric motor powers the now rear-drive two-seater up to 93 mph. In electric mode, acceleration is sufficient but not breathtaking. According to project leader Frank Walliser, the 918’s electric range is 16 miles. It seemed easy to maintain this mode as long as the throttle wasn't depressed to the kickdown point. At that point, the V-8 fired, adding its considerable thrust to the electric motor’s torque. The transition from e-mode to combustion mode is amazingly smooth, especially for a vehicle with more than a year of additional development work remaining.

Both electric motors are powered by a 6.8-kWh, liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack mounted between the seats and the V-8. Because the 918 Spyder is a plug-in hybrid, the batteries can be charged with 240-volt household electricity in about four hours or with a higher voltage system in a couple of hours. An AC-to-DC converter located near the battery pack is fed by a power socket built into the passenger’s-side B-pillar.

Predictably, the 918 Spyder will use regenerative braking to stretch its electric range. Porsche says this system is three times more powerful than those the company uses in its other hybrids. The two electric motors decelerate the 918 up to 0.50 g versus 0.15 g in a Panamera hybrid. Naturally, the 918 Spyder also can be slowed with its carbon-ceramic brakes.

The road to the future is littered with wires and black boxes. Try as we might, we were unable to locate the flux capacitor.
As in the Panamera hybrid, there’s no regeneration until the driver hits the brake pedal. Lifting off of the throttle only allows the car to coast, or, in Porsche parlance, to “sail.” The harder the driver pushes the brake pedal, though, the more electrical energy is generated.

But we’re more interested in the right pedal. And when it's kicked hard enough to fire the V-8, the 918 Spyder is transformed from an advanced tram into a serious race car. As a result of two special design features, the mid-mounted V-8’s voice has an extraordinarily aggressive timbre. “Our target is to emulate the sound we know from the Carrera GT’s V-10,” says Walliser. The exhaust manifolds sit between the two cylinder banks in a “hot-V” configuration, with collector pipes running over the top of the engine just behind the occupants’ heads. This reminds us of historic racers such as the 1965 Indy 500–winning Lotus-Ford with its high-mounted double-barrel exhaust.

The mule’s hot-V arrangement is a departure from the 918 concept’s, on which the exhaust outlets poked out the sides of the car just ahead of the rear wheels. For all its racy coolness, the new configuration—which the Germans call “heisse Seite innen,” or “hot on the inside”—is mainly here to keep the battery pack from overheating. This exhaust routing concentrates more heat between the cylinder banks, leaving the flanks and the bottom of the engine near the battery pack relatively cool.

Porsche developed the 4.6-liter, dry-sump V-8 engine exclusively for the 918 Spyder from the 3.4-liter V-8 that powered the company’s RS Spyder Le Mans prototype racer. Thanks to titanium connecting rods, plastic oil pumps, and a thin-walled crankcase, it’s extremely light. Porsche has eliminated belt drives by powering all accessories electrically. Another departure from normal practice is the use of a flat, 180-degree crankshaft instead of the more common 90-degree design. What this sacrifices in smoothness, it more than makes up in high-rpm volumetric (breathing) efficiency.

Proton Preve Saphire; a hint of a SE version..

At the Proton PrevĂ© launch last night at the MIECC, a special version of the car was also seen – the Sapphire, as it’s called, is a concept drawn up by Proton Design to showcase the possibilities with the PrevĂ©.
The car features a matte gun-metal finish, and the shade does look very fetching in the metal. Changes from the base version include a dark tan leather interior and two-tone five-spoke 18-inch alloys wrapped with Yokohama S.drive 225/40 series rubbers. Oh, and the braking system elements and ride height have seen changes as well.
There’s also a new, dynamic-looking front bumper, which transforms the nose and tightens the frontal presentation of the car – Proton’s head of styling, Azlan Othman, mentioned that the bumper is set to see the light of day at some point in the future.
Also on, new side skirts and a revised rear bumper, with additional lip strapped on.
There’s plenty of contrast play against the matte exterior shade finish – silver highlights on the bumpers, brushed metal bits and window-frame chrome bezels dress things up further.
It looks sharp, the Sapphire. Word has it that this is a bit of a peek into what may turn out to be a Special Edition version in the months ahead. Like what you see?

Japanese Management..

Like the West,Japan has its fair share of organization failures side by side with the success stories. But with all things researched and done, the same principle holds. Those unsuccessful cases are characterized by managements poor judgement and leadership, hostile management worker relations, stagnant organizations, poor human resource development, defective financing policies, inability to mathch technological change, inappropriate cost management, all of which reflect an inability to achieve the "good fits".
But where those successful Japanese organizations are concerned, they have shown through their organic evolution, that they can change the way they are. Once they have identified the conditions on which their organizations are dependent, they can look towards blending the organization theories for optimum effectiveness.
To drive this point home , it is interesting to note that the typical Japanese firm operating overseas employs an approach to management distinctively different from the typical host country firm.Take USA for example, where Japanese firms there would modify their management to suit the needs of the US rather than replicate the form developed in their native Japan.Nonetheless, they still retain their DNA style management and remain quite distinct from most American firms. And the single most different approach to life and business that no others willing to  do...harakiri..or fight to the end..WIN! or DIE!SaLAM..

Proton CEO's Swansong?

The wait is over. Proton has officially introduced its latest addition to the fold with the arrival of the PrevĂ©. The car was launched an hour ago by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, at the Mines Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Seri Kembangan.
It’s a huge car for the company, as its managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin stated at the launch. “The PrevĂ© is a very important milestone for Proton in many ways. It represents a new and higher level of standard for Proton cars in all aspects encompassing safety, performance, comfort, build quality, technology, overall design and convenience,” he said.
“More significantly, it reflects on Proton’s maturity, technical knowledge and technological capability as a car manufacturer and to evolve from a domestic and regional player into a global car company,” he added.
As mentioned in our preview article about the car, the PrevĂ© is available in three variant forms at point of launch, with two engine permutations and three transmissions – the list is led by the 1.6 CVT Premium, in turbocharged CamPro CFE form, followed by the 1.6 Executive CVT and 1.6 Executive five-speed manual, which both feature the normally-aspirated CamPro IAFM+ mill.
Both CVT-equipped variants feature a Punch CVT drivetrain – the High-line CFE variant gets the seven-speed VT3, dubbed the ProTronic, while the Medium-line spec’d IAFM+ runs with the six-speed VT2. The VT3 transmission is a derivative of the VT2 – both share the same package, but the VT3 is capable of higher maximum input torques (215 Nm as opposed to the VT2‘s 186 Nm).
Speaking of output, the CFE – which features a low-pressure turbocharger – is good for 138 hp at 5,000 rpm and 205 Nm between 2,000 – 4,000 rpm, and performance figures include a 0-100 km/h time of 9.6 seconds and a maximum top speed of 190 km/h. As for fuel consumption, the CFE manages 6.6 litres per 100 km, based on a combined cycle.
As for the IAFM+, the mill equips the two M-Line versions of the car, and output numbers for this one are 107 hp at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm at 4,000 rpm. As for performance specs, the CVT version has a 170 km/h top speed and a 12.5 second 0-100 km/h time, while the manual does 180 km/h tops and does the century sprint in 12.0 seconds.
Consumption-wise, Proton states that the IAFM+ offers 5.8 litres per 100 km for the CVT version, while the five-speed manual manages 6.2 litres per 100 km, both sets on a combined cycle measurement.

Dimensions-wise, the Prevé measures in at 4,543 mm long, 1,786 mm wide and 1,524 mm tall, and has a 2,650 mm wheelbase. Both the front and rear track is identical at 1,542 mm each, and the car has a ground clearance of 155 mm, and all the numbers are universal across the Prevé model range.
As mentioned in an earlier story about its dimensions, the PrevĂ© is larger than its two predecessors, the Waja and the Persona – here’s a recap of the comparative figures. The earlier figures were accurate, with only a single mm difference in the width (earlier reported as 1,785 mm) as well as with the boot capacity of 508 litres (earlier, 506 litres) being the only items needing revision.

Elsewhere, a recap too in comparing the PrevĂ© with other C-segment sedans, including its own Mitsubishi-derived stablemate, the Proton Inspira, as the table below shows. The comparison is based on models with the biggest engines and specs (and thus the heaviest). The only thing missing from the table is the boot space capacity of the Inspira – it’s not the same as the Lancer, since the boot floor is raised to fit a full-sized spare.
Meanwhile, in terms of kerb weight, the 1.6 Premium CFE tips the scales at 1,340 kg, while the 1.6 Executive CVT is 1,325 kg and the Executive manual is the lightest of the trio, at 1,305 kg. The car comes with a 50 litre capacity fuel tank.
Suspension type is a MacPherson front and multilink rear, and all three variants wear 10-spoke 16-inch alloys, with GT Radial Champiro 205/55 series tyres, and features ventilated front /solid rear disc brakes. Water-resistant fabric seats feature across the range, as does hydraulic power steering – the choice for the latter was explained in our preview story.
Kit-wise, the PrevĂ© comes with front and rear fog lamps, follow-me-home lights, driver’s seat height adjustment, vehicle immobiliser, projector headlamps with LED position lamps as well as ABS with EBD and dual SRS airbags as standard across the entire model range.
The top-of-the-range CFE gets brake assist and traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Isofix seat mountings as well as two side airbags on top of that found as standard fare. It also gets tinted window film as part of the kit.
As expected, the CFE also comes loaded with the bells and whistles in terms of features and functions, with a push-start ignition, cruise control, auto headlamps, auto wipers, auto climate air-conditioning, a rear spoiler and a CD/MP3 player with Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity and integrated touchscreen GPS navigation unit.
There’s also a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto fold side mirrors and steering-mounted paddle shifters. Both the Executive variants don’t get leather for the steering wheel, but all three variants feature steering audio controls. Likewise, the CD/MP3 player on the two Executive versions come with Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity, but the GPS navigation is an external (portable) unit.
The vehicle is also equipped with a Smart Information Display system (SID) that displays information such as average fuel consumption, distance to empty, battery health and faulty bulb indicator, gear shift lock indicator, home lamp indicator and vehicle intrusion warning, among others. And also on is on the move WiFi – the PrevĂ© comes YES 4G-enabled.
Six colours are available across the range for the Prevé, and these are Blue Lagoon, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Solid White, Tranquility Black and a new shade called Elegant Brown. Ah, yes, prices are as follows (on-the-road, inclusive of insurance):
  • The PrevĂ© 1.6 Premium CFE: RM72,990 (metallic) and RM72,540 (solid)
  • The PrevĂ© 1.6 Premium IAFM+: RM62,990 (metallic) and RM62,540 (solid)
  • The PrevĂ© 1.6 MT Executive: RM59,990 (metallic) and RM59,540 (solid)
A first for Proton – the PrevĂ© comes with a full five-year or 150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).Price range is between  RM60-73000..

H00 U ....number plates..

Reports emerged earlier this week saying that vehicle owners will be allowed to bid for personalised vehicle registration numbers (NPP) from 2013. Cars, bikes, lorries and buses are eligible, but not taxis. There’s clearly a demand for such things, so it makes sense for JPJ to increase their revenue.
“The NPP is one of the new initiatives by the JPJ to members of the public. We will be able to introduce it once our computer system is upgraded and new security features are incorporated,” said JPJ director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan. JPJ was allocated RM282 million to upgrade its system as part of the Government Transformation Programme.
Solah explained that the bidding exercise will be divided into two categories, namely exclusive and non-exclusive. A non-exclusive NPP can belong to more than one individual while an exclusive one is the property of one person. The non-exclusive NPPs will be cheaper and offered via a tender exercise. For exclusive NPPs, JPJ will determine the cost to the bidder.
“The bidder will then have the right for the NPP from numbers 1 to 9999,” he said, adding that the JPJ had yet to finalise the cost for the NPPs. Also not yet finalised is the the number of characters that would be allowed for such registration plates.
Current vehicle owners can bid too, but they will need to buy a new vehicle to place their existing number on. Finally, our cars can wear their names with pride. In my dreams, I have a cili padi called Megan. What’s yours?

CEO Proton Stays

Here"s a follow-up to our previous breaking news, here’s the official statement from Proton that just came in:
“We refer to the news report in The Edge Financial Daily dated April 10, 2012 on the resignation of Proton’s group managing director, Datuk Seri Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir. Proton is not aware of the source of this speculation. Datuk Seri Syed Zainal is still holding the position of the group managing director of Proton, and his services are still required in the company.
The post-acquisition exercise is still proceeding smoothly and upon the completion of the same, Proton is expected to have a strong synergy of current and new management team members that will provide Proton with the necessary impetus to lead the company in its aspiration to become a globally successful automotive player.”
Read the statement closely and you’ll see that Proton is not denying nor confirming the speculation of the resignation. As far as Proton is concerned, Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin is still in the driving seat.
However, according to The Malaysian Insider, Syed Zainal has indeed resigned and will remain in Proton until the middle of the year, when he will have completed his notice period. This means that Syed Zainal will be present to launch the PrevĂ©, Proton’s global car that was conceived under his watch.
The report adds that the person being lined up to fill DSZ’s position is DRB-Hicom COO Datuk Lukman Ibrahim who, like Syed Zainal, once held a top managerial position in Perodua. What is undeniable is the fact that the post-acquisition exercise is still on-going and there are more changes to be expected once the dust settles.

Strategy Implementation

In life , more so in business, we deploy chosen strategies to give the desired results...However, focus sing on corporate issues, instead of taking the Western approach towards strategy implementation which tends to address topics such as organizational behavior, management selection and development ,management information system and communication, the unorthodox approach shows implementation from the point of deception, secrecy, flexibility, speed and timing, and usage of direct and indirect methods.
Each of these areas is necessary if an organization were to realize the goals for which strategies are developed in the first place to enable it to cope in the increasingly competitive arena of the greater business.
Deception, which is commonly used to throw off the competitors reel and usually takes the form of the holding out of baits, such as when one lures the customer to where one wants him to spend the money.Businessmen, have through various sales gimmicks, organized things like clearance sales, free gifts, contests, loss leaders, waiving entrance fees, all in all, to divert business away from their competitors in this manner.Other methods of deception include fakery,ie when one is seen to be humble, weak,or even stupid, but in reality he is not,and the create of illusions ,in order to become unpredictable in the eyes of judging others, one must also watch out for deception by others since two can play the same game!
Secrecy in business is necessary to ensure that no one knows ones plan unless it suit ones purpose to let them know...One should however not become obsessed with secrecy to the extent of regarding even petty issues as secret and thus impairing one's delegation would entail divulging information to those who had been so delegated. As professionals, we must be able to judge what is confidential and to what degree so as to determine who could have access to the information.
Flexibility is needed to prevent the enemy from easily predicting ones move.Flexibility will also enable one to effectively apply the marketing concept which simply means finding out what the customer needs and then working on satisfying such needs a profit. While a strategy can be viewed as a coherent direction whereby to further the marketing function,it should still be subject to review and change if found to be unworkable. The ability to change is becoming more and more vital to success.
Speed and timing also necessary because common sense tells us a longer battle at market place carries no benefits! It is then important to provide for a quick kill and victory....The same goes for deciding on the strategy we have to adopt as well as its subsequent implementation.Delays or hesitancy will only allow our competitors to get wise to our strategy.Such knowledge will also enable them to make preparations to counter our proposed move...
Generals in battlefields have recognized both direct and indirect methods used in waging war!Though the interchangeable deployment of these methods one can always keep the enemy in doubt as to one;s real intention and at the same time enabling one to ensure victory...This is in line with the 'contingency' approach..and the earlier call for flexibility. In short, one must provide for situations where the enemy does not respond as anticipated.Hence either method must be capable of replacing the other at any time.In making formal approaches, businessmen often resort to indirect methods, such as making gestures, appropriate or in appropriate ones, for the purpose of obligating some third party in some way that he will be willing to exert his influence on my behalf.Inappropriate gestures include bribery, corruption, while more allowable ones take in the form of harnessing support from influential friends, doing favours for persons we are dealing with, doing something for his kids, helping him make his work easier, making him get all the deserving promotions, others as we can as we are in a better bargaining position.
As the application is endless,it is essential that one approaches the need to use both direct and indirect methods in their interchangeable forms of success. One must not be confined to only one particular course of action and instead should identify various options and use them according to the needs of the situation.Salam.

How Big Boys Think and Play:Excellence In Management!

Human Resource Management
1.What is the attitude of top management towards the human side of enterprise..has enough attention
been given to portray its fundamental role in the managerial philosophies of the organization..
2.Are the policies covering people associated with the organization clear and equitable..do they give
the organization the competitive edge over other employers in terms of wages, promotiom, training,

The Organization

Having mustered knowledge of oneself, one must still know one's internal environment before one is ready to tackle one's competitors. The ability to achieve internal harmony,ie gaining absolute control over one's immediate operating environment where the people factor is most prominent is said to be a major contributing factor to Japan 's economic success.
This article  thus looks at the internal organization which is synonymous with internal environment by taking both the western and japans views of organizations. From these views,it is found that basically, organization is all about the people within it,ie..the employees and how they are organized via their creation of structures ,operating systems and procedures ,etc. The formal organization whose purpose and task are embodied in the organization structure clarifies the roles and relationship of each level of hierarchy. The informal organization,on the other hand, emerges from the shared activities, aspirations, and sentiments of other group members as they interact with one another in the social setting created by the forma; organization.Like the formal organization, the informal one also has its hierarchy, leaders, and objectives. It also exerts social control over its members and create its own communication channel called the grapevine which can result in negative consequences for the formal organization, thus warranting management effort to monitor the activities of the informal organization members.Managers tasks should therefore include identifying key informal leaders and cultivating them to further organizational objectives rather than being in opposition.
Coalitions which are alliances of persons within an organization ,thus representing a form of management which cut across formal organizational lines are shown to effect organizational activities  such as strategy determination in an organization whose CEO is weak.In the same way, coalition may be necessary of a strategy for the new incoming CEO who fills key incumbent positions with his followers to ensure access to information and support. In forming coalitions,it is important to thoroughly know the persons whom we are allying with. Salam.

Fact or Fiction..its a sharper read!..

– Edisikini
