Maybank Malaysia... Best Automobile Lending Business 2012

Maybank Malaysia received awards for Best Retail Bank in Malaysia and Best Automobile Lending Business for 2012 during the Excellence in Retail Financial Services 2013 Awards ceremony, held in conjunction with the Excellence in Retail Financial Services Convention in Seoul, South Korea.
Maybank is the largest Auto Finance player in the ASEAN region, with a total loan base of almost USD16.1 billion (RM49.9 billion) in 2012 for Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, with Malaysia making up most of the loan base at about RM31 billion.
Armed with an excellent distribution network and strong virtual banking services, Maybank is well positioned to reach and service its 10 million customers in Malaysia, seeing strong growth in deposits.
Its enhanced Retail Application Scorecard project across major retail products has aided the bank in making the best possible credit decision for each customer, and has resulted in enhancement of the existing application scorecard for mortgage, credit card and auto loan, as indicated by the reduction of impairment ratio in its retail products.
For its automobile lending business, Maybank Malaysia has launched several key strategic initiatives in 2012 such as the My First Car Financing Package launch and bundled HP finance with their core products.
With a comprehensive range of Auto Finance products and services, Maybank has succeeded in maintaining its strong product leadership position in the marketplace.
It was also able to increase Gen-Y to almost 25 per cent of its total customer base despite margin compression and declining net interest margin (NIM), while also achieving an average product cross-sell ratio of four for every Gen-Y in the mass segment, 8.2 in the affluent segment and 9.7 in the high-net-worth (HNW) customer segments.
The awards programme was administered by The Asian Banker and refereed by prominent global bankers, consultants and academics, involving a stringent three-month evaluation process based on a balanced and transparent scorecard to determine the winners.
